Old Tuxedo Golf Course in Harriman State Park

Leader: Carol Weiss

Leader Contact Info: 845.358.3659 or cweiss1124@optonline.net

Meet Carol at 9am at the parking area on Route 106 near the Thruway for a walk into the Old Tuxedo Golf Course in Harriman State Park. We will stroll down the old woods road - in the shade - until we reach the meadow which was once part of a golf course that was destroyed when the Thruway was built. This spot can be good for wildflowers, dragonflies, and butterflies. It was the site of a great number of wood turtles in 2009. Bring water and lunch, and plan to be out for 3-4 hours. There are trees in the meadow so if we need to get out of the sun, we can. Park on Route 106 just east of the Thruway - there is a large gravel area on the north side of the road. By the way, there is a composting toilet about a quarter mile away at the Ramapo River Access, and it is clean!
